Secret Project Revealed! 2009 Debs eBook Anthology

New York Times bestselling author Jessica Verday announces an e-anthology featuring 25 authors from the writers group 2009 Debutantes

The bestselling author of THE HOLLOW Trilogy, Jessica Verday, has gathered 24 other authors for a kind of Young Adult sampler featuring a theme of “Firsts.” The eBook will be published by Verday herself and she will be co-editing with Rhonda Stapleton author of the STUPID CUPID series.

This eBook will give readers a chance to sample the stories of 25 different authors exploring what it’s like to experience something for the first time. From first kiss to first love, there’s no time like the first time.

“This is an innovative way for authors to reach out to readers in a single book that anyone can afford. Readers get the chance to find a new story from some of their favorite authors, and while they’re at it, be introduced to other authors they may not have been able to get to know yet,” says Verday.

The e-anthology will be available on Amazon Kindle and Smashwords. The tentative release date is October 4, 2011.

Contributing authors are: Jessica Verday, Carrie Ryan, Rhonda Stapleton, Cyn Balog, Lauren Bjorkman, Leigh Brescia, Teri Hall, Stacey Jay, C. Lee McKenzie, Janet Gurtler, Jenny Moss, Jackson Pearce, Kristina Springer, Charity Tahmaseb, Jon Skovron, Heidi Kling, Saundra Mitchell, Jennifer Hubbard, Kirstin Cronn-Mills, Lara Zielin, Shani Petroff, Kurtis Scaletta, J.A. Yang, Jennifer Brown, and Sydney Salter.

Cover to be revealed May 2011.

Big Blend Radio

A few weeks ago I said I'd done a radio interview and that the person asking the questions had brought up the issue that YA wasn't necessarily just for YA readers, that more mature readers could enjoy the books.

Here's my interview. Thought you might like to hear what was said about widening the reading audience for our books. I loved the opportunity to speak about that.

The awesomeness of independent bookstores

I had the great honor of talking this morning on Michigan Public Radio about the importance that independent bookstores play in an author's book success. What would we do without you, independents? Click here to read or listen to the full story.

And three cheers for independent bookstores!

Survey - Connecting with YA Authors Online

Greetings Debs Friends and Watchers!

As readers, bloggers, teachers, librarians, aspiring authors, industry pros and others interested in the 2009 debut YA lineup, you probably have lots of ideas about the best ways to connect with authors on the Web... and I'd love to hear them!

The survey below is a short, 8-question survey about finding and connecting with authors and books online, and your responses will help me and other YA authors learn about the features and content most important to include on our Web sites and social network pages.

The best part? All survey participants can enter for a chance to win a $25 book store gift card!

Interested? Here's the link!

Survey: Connecting with YA Authors

The Small Print: The survey and gift card contest are open to anyone anywhere who has a connection to YA books. Survey results are anonymous, but participants who wish to enter the gift card contest must provide an email address. Participants under age 13 who want to enter for a chance at the gift card must have a parent or guardian provide an email address for the entry. One winner will be selected at random and can select the book store of his or her choice, provided I'm able to order the gift card online. Email addresses entered for the contest will not be saved, shared, or used for any other purpose aside from this contest. The contest is open until 12 midnight ET on Sunday, April 5. Winner will be announced on April 5.
